Hiding from the Monster
Lately the Babe enjoys hiding from the monster under the table, in one of her booster seats. She can spend quite a while down there, talking to & protecting her baby, putting her magical pen in the holes in the table slats, and buckling/unbuckling herself into her seat.

Wishful Thinking
I don't know what I was thinking. We bought tickets a long time ago to see the Flight of the Conchords tonight at UCSD. (That's not the part I'm second guessing...THAT was a great decision!) It was originally going to be a treat for both Daddy & me...we'd get a babysitter for the Babe and get to enjoy a night out (and some laughs) w/our friends.
Well, the day of the show grew nearer and we couldn't find a babysitter. So Daddy graciously offered to sell his ticket and stay home w/the Babe so that I could go and enjoy the show. But then an urgent project came up at work this week that has meant many hours of extra work at night, as well as a 6am conf. call on Thursday morning. So, I decided to stay home w/the Babe and let Daddy go to the show instead.
Short story long, I ended up volunteering to watch our friends' Eve & John's little girl Ecco, so that Eve could go to the show. (John is out of town.) We love Ecco. Izzy and Ecco have been playing so well together lately and I thought to myself, how hard could it be to watch feed two little girls dinner and put them to bed?
Dinner was great. Just look at these two:

Here's the "I don't know what I was thinking" part:
Bedtime initiated: 7:30pm.
...
2 bottles and 1 sippy cup of water
4 books
2 trips to the potty
1 diaper change
1 pajama shirt change
1 failed attempt (resulting in a wailing little girl) at explaining why Ecco needs a binky and Izzy doesn't
4 pillow and toy "swaps"
2 moves b/w top and bottom mattresses of the trundle
and
1 move of Izzy over to Mama/Daddy's room
later, and finally I have 2 sleeping girls.
It's 9:35.
I know, it could be worse. But I'm pooped and I have to get up at 5am, so I'm going nite-nite.

A Break from Project Granny Flat
Although most of the weekend was spent doing chores and cleaning out the granny flat, we did enjoy a lovely evening with the Kellicas & Porter, and old neighbors Mark, Jean, & Ryan.
Mr Porter Magoo, showing off his teeth:

The Babe and Ryan doing a performance (yes, topless):

Yes, she did this on her own:

Having fun looking out the front window:

And climbing through the tunnel:

The Babe also loved having "Pebble" over for a slumber party:

Pebble and Gumbo both got brushed A LOT:

Happy Mother's Day
Today was Mother's Day so we first headed to the park to have a "camping breakfast" with John, Eve, and Ecco.
Breakfast time - John bought each of the mamas a real lei.
"Flying" on the swings

Our friend Carl was there with his son Brooks to play golf and ride bikes. Of course, the Babe and Ecco each wanted a turn and Brooks was nice enough to share.
Riding on Brooks's bike

Golfing

The girls found the water fountain and had fun "watering" the plants

After breakfast, John and I took the girls to the zoo so Eve and Mama could do whatever they wanted (turned out to be a pedicure and some shopping). After a good nap, it was off to the pool at the Joan Kroc Center. The Babe is getting really used to the water.

I think the Babe had as much fun as Mama had on Mother's Day. I bet she can't wait for Father's Day!
