Secret Agent Woman

The Babe decided to test the boundaries of the newly enacted water conservation law. She dressed herself, put on some shades, and went to work.

Are the authorities looking?

Ready...

Aim...

Fire!

I think we're safe

My NEW Running Shoes!

The Babe got some new running shoes over the weekend and we've never seen her so excited about a pair of shoes before. Here she is, napping on the floor, arms crossed (and yeah, no shirt) because we told her shoes aren't allowed in the bed. "Ok, I'll sleep on the floor then Mama-Daddy."

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Mama wasn't thinking and totally forgot to bring the camera to the Blind Lady Ale House for Daddy's birthday celebration on Saturday night. But we enjoyed a wonderful evening of Neapolitan-style pizza, good beer, the most DEEELICIOUS homemade ice cream sandwiches ever, and lots of laughs with many of our wonderful friends. The Babe had a blast playing with Mia and Ecco -- she almost outlasted Mama and I had to drag her out of there!

Happy Birthday Daddy, we hope you had a great one!

More like Labor Day than Memorial Day!

We were lucky enough to have our older more-experienced-at-home-improvement-projects siblings -- Ernest from the Villanueva clan and Koko from the Okano clan -- give up their Memorial Day weekends to help us w/some manual labor on the Granny flat. (Or as Lola calls it, "the barn.")

Gumbo's sad that her futon/bed will be going away soon:

Our main goal was to rip out the non-working shower in the laundry area, cap the pipes and drywall/fix the floor.

After the demo:

Floor in!

Drywall in!

Linsey helped entertain Izzy by reading her lots and LOTS of books. :)

Marc got the deck prepped for some pressure washing:

Deck washed...and Gumbo's bed gone. :(

Our engineer siblings also fixed the electrical problems, and Marc & I worked on going through some of our JUNK and getting it better organized.

BEFORE:

(How have we accumulated so much crap over the years...?)

Messy closet:

Beautiful "AFTER" shots are coming soon...we're almost there!

We did give our workers a break on Memorial Day, even though it wasn't optimal San Diego beach-going weather.

Hiding from the Monster

Lately the Babe enjoys hiding from the monster under the table, in one of her booster seats. She can spend quite a while down there, talking to & protecting her baby, putting her magical pen in the holes in the table slats, and buckling/unbuckling herself into her seat.

Wishful Thinking

I don't know what I was thinking. We bought tickets a long time ago to see the Flight of the Conchords tonight at UCSD. (That's not the part I'm second guessing...THAT was a great decision!) It was originally going to be a treat for both Daddy & me...we'd get a babysitter for the Babe and get to enjoy a night out (and some laughs) w/our friends.

Well, the day of the show grew nearer and we couldn't find a babysitter. So Daddy graciously offered to sell his ticket and stay home w/the Babe so that I could go and enjoy the show. But then an urgent project came up at work this week that has meant many hours of extra work at night, as well as a 6am conf. call on Thursday morning. So, I decided to stay home w/the Babe and let Daddy go to the show instead.

Short story long, I ended up volunteering to watch our friends' Eve & John's little girl Ecco, so that Eve could go to the show. (John is out of town.) We love Ecco. Izzy and Ecco have been playing so well together lately and I thought to myself, how hard could it be to watch feed two little girls dinner and put them to bed?

Dinner was great. Just look at these two:

Here's the "I don't know what I was thinking" part:

Bedtime initiated: 7:30pm.
...
2 bottles and 1 sippy cup of water
4 books
2 trips to the potty
1 diaper change
1 pajama shirt change
1 failed attempt (resulting in a wailing little girl) at explaining why Ecco needs a binky and Izzy doesn't
4 pillow and toy "swaps"
2 moves b/w top and bottom mattresses of the trundle
and
1 move of Izzy over to Mama/Daddy's room
later, and finally I have 2 sleeping girls.

It's 9:35.

I know, it could be worse. But I'm pooped and I have to get up at 5am, so I'm going nite-nite.

Sun Salutations

Per Robbo's recommendation, Daddy decided to do some sun salutations to help with his tight back. The Babe decided that she should do some too.
Thanks Robbo, I think it's helping both of them!
