Oh Maternity Leave, How I Miss Thee...

November 9th marked my return to work after a glorious -- albeit short -- 14 weeks of maternity leave. Our E-man is now a little over 3.5 months old. He's still such a wonderful baby. He smiles and laughs all the time, he sleeps from 7pm 'til 7am with only one quick middle of the night feeding, and he just loves to be near a warm body.

Thankfully, Lola agreed to come to San Diego to take care of Ethan for 2 weeks until Thanksgiving week (when Daddy will be home w/him), then E-man will be at St Paul's full-time with big sister Iz.

Here's our handsome E-man at 3.5 mos:

In preparation for Lola's arrival we did a lot of cleaning, and we learned that the Babe LOVES to clean! (And yes, I plan to hone her cleaning skills over the next few years so that I can give her lots of cleaning To-Do lists like my mom gave me!!) Seriously, she did most of the dusting and kept asking, "Mama, what I can clean next?"

On Lola's first night, the Babe decided to treat her to a special "Izzy" hairdo:

And then Lola returned the favor by using the curling brush on the Babe:

Meanwhile, we practiced furiously to get Ethan to take the bottle:

I'm happy to report that it only took 1.5 days for Ethan to take the bottle from Lola, and now he's an old pro. It's been a tough week for me, adjusting to work again and being away from my little (big) man. But I know it'll get a little bit easier with each day.

I've been thinking about you all week!!! Ethan looks like such a sweetheart in that picture. And love, love, love Izzy's cleaning tendancies. I can only hope Nico will pick up the same gene from me. ;-) BTW, when did you get a piano!?

Oh Mine, he is beautiful! What a looker! Both the kids are just precious... you are a lucky mama.

Coming back to work is NOT easy, but as you said, each day it gets a little bit easier until you are all well-settled into the routine.

Thinking good thoughts for you! :)
