The Babe & E-man's First White Christmas

Call us crazy, or brave, or both. But we decided to travel to Chicago (Evanston) with a toddler & infant so that we could spend Christmas with Momo & Jiji. (It wouldn't have felt particularly crazy but we just took a road trip to Phoenix for Thanksgiving.)

Well, it was WONDERFUL! The security lines at both airports (even O'Hare after the terrorist incident on Xmas day) were totally manageable, both flights left on time and arrived THIRTY minutes early, and the Babe and E-man were both excellent travel companions. And not only that, but we really did have a white Christmas. There was just enough snow to make a (sorta) snowman, a few snow angels, get hit w/a few snowballs, and go sledding. Somehow I got out of shoveling (thanks Koko!), and being in the cold made our return to sunny San Diego even more special. It helped that it was ~70 degrees when we got back, too.

Momo outdid herself--as usual--with warm Xmas decorations that brought back so many childhood memories, delicious seafood gumbo, outstanding breakfasts and treats galore, and way too many presents. Jiji made fires in the fireplace for all of us to enjoy, and got an introduction to Wii, which we hope will lead to a lot of enjoyment for him!

Just like the Babe requested, Santa brought her a car (a monster truck, actually :)), and a book (she got many):

Jiji got a Wii:

The Babe had fun feeding the worms (used for compost) with Momo:

We got to see a lot of friends, which was so much fun. (And if we do end up moving to Chicago in 2011 we look forward to having a great support network!)

Oh, I love these pictures! As much as I want Austin to be on the list of places to move in 2011, I think Chicago/E-town would be amazing for you guys. What a fabulous trip! And LOOOOOOVE Iz in the Domo hat. :)
